Trash and Recycling in Westtown

Holiday Collection Schedule
The following rule is always in effect: If your regular collection day falls on Christmas, New Years, Memorial, Independence, Labor, or Thanksgiving days, your trash/recycling will be collected the Saturday before the holiday if the holiday falls on a Monday. If the holiday falls on a Thursday, trash/recycling collection will be done the Saturday after the holiday. 

Refuse Collection Information: Yard, Household & Bulk Trash Pickup Guidelines
A.J. Blosenski will collect three (3) bulk items per house the last pick up of the month.   CFCs must be removed from all refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, and ice makers prior to pick-up. Construction debris and auto parts cannot be accepted for collection. Call 1-800-343-6583 if you have any questions!

A.J. Blosenski will collect unlimited numbers of trash containers of household waste on  Monday's for residents west of Shady Grove Way and Thursday's for residents east of Shady Grove Way.  

Leaf collection is provided in the fall and yard waste collection in the spring.  Leaves must be in biodegradable paper bags and placed at the curb by 7AM on the collection day. The Township has bags for sale at a cost of three/$1.25.  Plastic bags will not be taken. 

Fall Leaf Collection -  All are on Saturday's - October 30th, November 6th, November 20th, December 4th.

Spring Yard Waste Pick up - See notice on the News and Information page.      Until further notice you may discard your yard waste in your regular trash.  Please make sure that it is prepared correctly. Either in bio-degradable paper bags or a container that can be dumped.  Branches m

RECYCLING BINS

The Township provides a recycling bin for your use. You can pick a bin up at the Township Municipal Building . Moving? Please leave the bin for the new owner.

How to Prepare Items for Recycling

Glass—Green, Brown & Clear

Bottles or Jars only. Rinse Clean. Remove lids and rings. Labels may be left on. NO plate glass, ceramics, drinking glasses, etc.

Plastics

Must be marked with #1 through #7 inside triangle on bottom. Remove lids, rinse clean and flatten if possible. Labels may be left on. NO unmarked containers.  No antifreeze or motor oil containers.

Aluminum Beverage Cans

Rinse clean. Cans may be flattened. No bottle or jar lids, no pie plates or aluminum foil. No other aluminum items.

Bi-Metal Cans

Rinse clean. Cans may be flattened. Examples include pet food cans, soup cans, vegetable cans. NO cans with plastic parts. NO paint or aerosol cans.

Newspaper, Magazines, Phone Books & Cardboard

Commingled in a brown paper bag or tied into bundles. Cereal boxes and similar cardboard items may be combined with newspaper. Cardboard must be cut in 3 foot squares, bundled with string and placed by the recycling bin..

Junk Mail & Office Paper

Place in brown paper bag with above.

Acceptable Materials
No more than 220 pounds or 25 gallons per household of cleaning and maintenance products that are labeled as toxic, flammable, ignitable, corrosive, reactive caution, warning, danger, hazardous.

Unacceptable Materials
Latex (water-based) paint, used motor oil, tires, medical waste, unidentified waste, commercial and industrial waste, explosives, ammunition and appliances. Air-dry or absorb latex paint and dispose with trash. Recycle motor oil, car batteries, tires and anti-freeze at your local service station.

Information for Computer Recycling            Only at the April 10th, June 25th, and Oct 9th events.  Maximum of 3 computers per vehicle accepted.  Residential only - NO businesses. They will take only the following: cpu's, scanners, mouse, printers, monitors, power supplies, keyboards, laptops, and cables.
