West Chester Area Clean Energy Future

The Townships of East Bradford, East Goshen, West Goshen, Westtown, West Whiteland, and the West Chester Borough, in conjunction with the West Chester Area Council of Governments (WCACOG), collectively hired the Cadmus Group to complete a study on the feasibility, costs, and opportunities of transitioning to 100% renewable energy, and to create a long-term, actionable roadmap for realizing the community’s goals.  On August, 3, 2020, Westtown Township adopted Resolution 2020- 09 formally accepting the WCACOG Clean Energy Study, authorizing the Township’s involvement in a project to implement strategies set forth in the study, and authorizing the Township’s involvement in the issuance of a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).  Additional information on the West Chester Area Clean Energy Future project is available here:  www.wcacleanenergy.org.

Electric Vehicles

Over the last several years, electric vehicles have finally become a viable and economical option for American motorists interested in substantially reducing their carbon footprint. The EAC strongly encourages Westtown residents to consider transitioning to either an electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid vehicle for their next automobile purchase. To facilitate this transition, the EAC has prepared two handy reference guides comparing the range, efficiency, and price of various model year 2021 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles. In addition, the links below to the U.S. Department of Energy provide information on the various federal and state tax incentives available to electric vehicle owners.

As an important disclaimer, electric vehicle technology, the location of public charging stations and the state and federal tax code change frequently. Westtown Township is not responsible for any errors contained in the links below. In addition, Westtown Township provides the information contained herein for informational and reference purposes only, and does not specifically endorse any of the vehicle makes and models or public charging stations listed. Individuals should do their own research and consult with the specific vehicle’s website for the most up to date information, as well as with a tax professional about available tax incentives.
